Description
The fruit of the Muso blood orange is nearly round to oval in shape, with a rounded, smooth apex, and an average fruit weight of about 200 grams. The peel is especially smooth with large, sparse, slightly raised oil glands. If harvested before full maturity, the fruit needs to be stored for the color to fully develop into a deep purple-red, which is highly attractive. The fruit contains few or no seeds, and when grown in clusters, it becomes entirely seedless. The flesh is crisp, tender, melts in the mouth, and has a rich, intense flavor, superior to other Tarocco varieties. It contains 12.8% to 14.2% soluble solids, with a solid-to-acid ratio of 14.30 and a sugar-to-acid ratio of 11.07. The fruit is juicy, flavorful, with a rose-like fragrance, and of exceptional quality.
