Description
A new variety of yangmei jointly selected and bred by the Horticulture Institute of Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Wenling Agriculture and Forestry Bureau. The fruit is round, with an average single fruit weight of 20.4 grams. When fully ripe, it is purple-black, shiny, and has obvious longitudinal grooves. The core is slightly larger, and the edible rate is 90.6%. The flesh is round and blunt, the flesh is soft, and there is a lot of juice. It contains 11.5% soluble solids and 0.88% total acid. The quality is excellent; it matures in late July in Wenling, Zhejiang.
The ripening period of Black Crystal is basically the same as that of Dongkui. When ripe, the fruit is black and shiny. Its name comes from the two characteristics of the fruit appearance, “purple-black” and “shiny”, which can be called the most beautiful yangmei. The fruit size is second only to Dongkui.
