Description
The Donghong Kiwi is a red-fleshed variety of Chinese kiwifruit, classified as an early-ripening red-heart cultivar. It typically matures in early September. The fruit has a short cylindrical shape with greenish-brown, hairless skin. Compared to the Hongyang Kiwi, Donghong is larger, with a rich, sweet flavor and better storage tolerance.
Individual fruits typically weigh between 80–140 grams, with a maximum weight of 150 grams. Donghong Kiwi has a soluble solids content of 16.5%–23% and an acidity level of 1.47%, resulting in a sugar-to-acid ratio of 11.2. It has a strong aroma and is of premium quality.
The fruit’s storability is moderate, remaining firm for 10–14 days at room temperature before softening. Under refrigeration, it can be stored for about three months.
