Description
It is a genetically mutated variety of Lingnan mangosteen discovered in China. Average fruit weighs 130 grams.
Varietal Characteristics:
-
Its flavor is no less than that of Thai mangosteen, and it’s even sweeter.
-
It has a higher edible rate compared to Thai mangosteen (relatively thin skin and only 1–2 small seeds).
-
Very cold-hardy, suitable for a wide range of growing regions — it can still sprout at temperatures as low as 4–5°C.
-
Grows quickly — grafted trees can bear fruit in 2–3 years, which is something that varieties like Achacha and Mexican mangosteen cannot achieve.
