Description
Recognized as one of the world’s top three premium yellow-fleshed kiwifruit varieties, Jinyan is a new cultivar developed by the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The fruit is naturally grown without the use of swelling agents, featuring a long cylindrical shape. It has an average weight of 101 grams, with a maximum weight of 141 grams. The fruit is visually appealing, uniform, with yellow-brown skin and minimal fuzz.
The flesh is golden yellow, with an average soluble solids content of 16%, reaching up to 19.8%. The acidity ranges from 0.86% to 1.55%, with a sugar-to-acid ratio of 10.5–18. It is exceptionally rich in vitamin C, containing up to 1055 mg/kg. The flesh is fine, tender, juicy, and sweet, offering an excellent flavor and high nutritional value.
The fruit has high firmness before ripening, making it highly storage-tolerant. Even after 3 months at room temperature, over 90% of the fruit remains in good condition, far surpassing other main kiwifruit varieties in storability.
