Wuzi is a local variety in Xiangshan County. It is named because its fruit turns purple-black when ripe, and is also called “jiamei” locally. The tree is strong, with an open posture and a round-headed shape. It is mainly composed of medium and short fruiting branches, with leaves 11.2 cm long and 3.3 cm wide, with rounded tips, entire leaf edges, and dark green leaves. The fruit is large and spherical, with a longitudinal diameter of 3.32cm and a transverse diameter of 3.45cm. The average single fruit weight is 23.50g, and the maximum single fruit weight is more than 30g. The fruit stalk is flat, the top of the flesh column is blunt and relatively smooth, the mature fruit surface is purple-black and shiny, the flesh is thick, juicy, soft, sweet and sour, the soluble solids are more than 11.0%, and the highest can reach 14.0%, the acid content is about 1%, and the edible rate is 93.8%; the fruit stalk is slightly concave, the fruit base is slightly concave, the suture line is shallow, the fruit stalk is small, the fruit moss is green, the fruit core is slightly larger, the core is relatively sticky, the texture is hard, and the fruit is more resistant to storage; the origin matures in mid-to-late June, about 5 days earlier than Dongkui; it matures in mid-to-late May in Chaoshan, Guangdong and Zhangzhou, Fujian, which is close to the maturity period of Dongkui and Wusu.
