Description
Also called Xinhui Tangerine, Chenpi Tangerine. The fruit is flat and round, with a slightly concave top and a prominent columnar mark, sometimes showing a small navel. There are occasionally radial grooves around the stem. The fruit measures 4.6-5.9 cm in height and 6.3-7.1 cm in diameter, weighing 100-138 grams. It has a deep orange-yellow color and a thick peel of 2.7-3.3 mm. The pulp is divided into 10-12 segments, with juicy flesh that has a balanced sweet and sour taste. It contains 15-25 seeds, either pointed or blunt, and is multi-embryonic. The fruiting period is from November to December.
When dried, the peel becomes traditional Chinese medicine known as “Chenpi,” recognized as the authentic variety of Chenpi.
