Description
The Gourd Jujube (Hulu Jujube), also known as Monkey Head Jujube, originated as a variant of the Changhong Jujube. The fruit is long and obovate, weighing 15 grams. It tapers down from the top toward the body, forming a nipple-like shape that resembles an upside-down gourd or a small monkey sitting with its neck tucked, hence the name. The fruit surface is smooth, with a reddish-brown skin. It is of moderate quality when fresh or dried and matures in early September.
